The Grid Code

The Grid Code outlines the technical, planning and operational requirements for the installation, or modification, of Distributed Generation (DG) projects connecting to BL&P's Grid at 24.9 KV and below.  This document applies to all single-phase or three-phase DG facilities regardless of the size.  Existing generator facilities with existing connections only need to comply with this document starting from the time when substantial modifications to the generator facility or its connection are made.

This document is intended to be applied to electric power generators using all types of energy sources, energy storage and energy conversion technologies – directly connected synchronous and asynchronous rotating machines, and those connecting via inverters or static power converters which connect at or below the threshold mentioned above. To view the code please download the attachment below.

Grid Code Amendment for Battery Storage

The Grid Code was amended in November 2024 to provide requirements for Battery Energy Storage Systems connecting to BL&P’s grid at 24.9kV and below providing energy services to the grid.

This information excludes uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) or systems used solely to provide uninterrupted power supply to loads during grid disturbances.
